Initiated by the Tasmanian Leaders Program, the breakfast club officially launched on Friday.
After surveying students and parents, the group discovered about 35 per cent of students were not eating breakfast on a daily basis, Tasmanian Leaders project manager of the breakfast program Mark Dickinson said.
Results “really highlighted” a need for the program.
Since kicking off in May, the Tas Leaders program aimed to develop relationships and contacts so the school would be able to carry on the project.
Foodbank and Manubread were key to the success as they donated food to the club.
RACT Community Fund provided financial assistance to purchase capital items.
Feeding about 60 students twice a week, Mr Brazendale said parents, students and staff embraced the project.
“It is a really wonderful opportunity for our kids to mix, you might see some preps sitting with some grade 6s and it is just a really positive experience for everyone,” he said.
