World Ranger Day plans to celebrate the hard work of rangers out in the field, and Tasmania’s Parks and Wildlife four-wheel drive vehicle ranger is just one of many furthering the cause.

Jenna Myers said her role as four-wheel drive ranger involves identifying four-wheel drive tracks in the state’s national parks and reserves that may need track assessments and upgrades.
“That may formulate working bees with community groups such as your four-wheel drive user groups, your ATB users,” Ms Myers said.
She said that the job often involves educating visitors on the top recreational vehicle destinations.
“It is important recreational vehicle users know how they can minimise their impact on the environment,” she said.
Her other duties include fire management and community engagement.
World Range Day takes place on Sunday, July 31 and recognises the work of a number of Parks and Wildlife roles, including field officers, engineers, visitor service officers and fire crews.
