MAN’S BEST FRIEND
ON Saturday afternoon I followed a flat tray utility from Railton to the Devonport Golf Club turn off.

On the open tray was a black and tan dog.
The weather was windy and very cold with snow in the sleet.
The poor dog was saturated and freezing.
It was trying to find non-existent shelter.
No doubt the people in the cab had the heater on.
Dogs in the same position should have some form of shelter, or at least a coat on.
If not, the owners should be charged with cruelty to animals at least.

SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
ON the issue of same sex marriage I am completely neutral
It is, however, coming to the fore, it occupied half a Lateline program (ABC) last Friday and of course there is the plebescite.
To say, as some do, that 70 per cent are in favour is dangerous, the same percentage was quoted in favour of a republic, but it only got 45 per cent of the vote.
Taking the Catholic Archbishop of Hobart to a quasi legal body was a mistake and received massive adverse publicity, mainly on the issue of freedom of speech in papers like Eternity (Bible Society).
I believe that seeing things like ‘’mock weddings’’ on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne recently will only turn voters against.
The people in favour should stress over and over as happened in Ireland that they are not seeking religious marriage but civil marriage.
It is an important point and resonates with me, love is love, on the other hand, is trite and meaningless.
Greece is a country of 11 million people and bankrupt, yet it organised a yes-no vote on its economic future in two weeks.
Why can’t Australia organise a vote in say six weeks?
The issue needs to be decided once and for all and quickly, before Christmas, to prevent prolonged stress on both sides involved.
