The program for the festival, which will run from September 7 to 11 in Launceston, was officially launched on Wednesday.
As well as the news of a new festival hub (Prince’s Square is set to be transformed), it was confirmed that Backyard Bands will be returning to the program.
Backyard Bands will see two of the city’s grandest structures transformed into live music venues.
Well, their backyards at least.
On September 9, the 19th century Victoria Hatherley Birrell Collection will take a break from its day job as an accommodation destination.
Instead, it’ll moonlight as a venue, hosting Mighty Duke & The Lords.
The band is comprised of members from the Melbourne Ska Orchestra, the Suitcase Royale, NO ZU, and The Locksmiths, and they’re known for bringing the funk.
The impressive 1922-built Hydro House at Trevallyn will be the stage for Foreign/National on September 10.
The Melbourne band comprises five jazz-loving fellows that has just been announced for the renowned Brisbane festival BIGSOUND.
Both shows are $35 apiece, or $35 concession.
Tickets for all of Junction go one sale from September 1.
