The pair were separated by half a point after round 3 held at the Ipswich SuperSprint, with Gurr finishing the round in seventh place, half a point behind Steers in sixth.
The 50-year-old Gurr made history as joint stock saw winner with world champion Brayden Meyer - the first ever Timbersport Australia dead heat. Gurr went on to smash his hot saw personal best by almost three seconds (8.80 secs), finishing fifth in the discipline. With two rounds remaining, he is still in contention to wear the green and gold in Stuttgart, Germany, later in the year, trailing Steers by one point in the overall standings in fifth and sixth respectively.
