Runners were proud to represent their schools despite finding the rain-soaked conditions challenging.
The event had been postponed in Term 2, with many parts of Launceston flooded and unsuitable for running.
Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School won the event for the fourth year in a row.
Newstead Athletics will be hosting the final of six events and award presentations at Grindelwald on Saturday.
Club president Susan McClenaghan said primary school participation has been excellent with around 30 schools entering 44 teams in the competition, totalling more than 190 competitors.
Seven teams entered the secondary schools competition which was re-introduced after a couple of years break.
