The program includes innovative health, fitness and skill development components along with socialisation, conditioning and games-based learning as its core.
Participants learn and experience the basic golf swing and putting action, with opportunities to have fun and get their whole body moving through golf-specific conditioning and movement activities.
It is designed for women of all ages and abilities with programs for new and existing golfers.
The Swing Fit program was also offered at Seabrook and Wynyard Golf Clubs, and the program that Kevin ran was very successful, especially given the fact that two participants took up club membership.
Kevin’s next Swing Fit program will be held in October and more information will be available on the club website.
Come and try
The club will also host ‘come and try’ days during October as part of Golf Australia’s National Golf Month aimed at re-engaging with lapsed members as well as introducing new players to the game.
All clubs are invited to be involved and Golf Tasmania is able to provide some funding.
Meanwhile Golf Tasmania’s development officer Simon Weston has been travelling the state, and reports that he sees positive signs for golf in Tasmania.
Along with the Swing Fit activities, there are currently seven PGA members offering the newly-modified MyGolf program for junior boys and girls aged between five and twelve.
This program is able to be offered by all golf clubs in the state, and for details contact Simon at Golf Tasmania.
