The Sharks led by eight points at half-time but slackened off in the premiership quarter to allow the sixth-placed Tigers to dominate.
Longford held Hillwood goalless to boast a 26-point advantage with 30 minutes to play and held on to win 11.7 (73) to 8.8 (56).
Sam Luttrell and Baden Alexander kicked two apiece to lead nine individual Longford goalscorers, while Will Murfett, Luke Perarton and Jake Sushames worked hard.
For the Sharks, Jordan Grieves, Josh Moore (two goals) and Dan Withers tried to get Max Pearce’s boys their second win of 2016.
Premiership contenders ROCHERLEA fought out a tight tussle with Deloraine to win 8.14 (62) to 7.8 (50).

Josh Holton booted three majors for the victors with Ben Elmer chipping in with two.
Around the ground coach Lyndon Stubbs, Jack Ruston and captain Brenton Gale stood out, while Josh Cameron, Jacob Wauchope and Matthew Griffin were named Deloraine’s best.
Rulla Kelly-Mansell (two) was the Roos’ only multiple goalscorer.
