Pyke told The Sunday Examiner he is looking forward to returning to Tasmania, after seeing the devastation caused by recent floods in the media.
"I've always loved Tassie ... I've been there on holidays, I've been there touring many times,” Pyke said.
“I've played Marion Bay Falls and I took my whole family down there, and we stayed in Hobart for another few days and checked out Bruny Island."
Pyke’s current tour covers extensive ground around rural Australia, and Pyke feels his regional audiences are always appreciative of artists visiting their town or city.
Despite online platforms revolutionising the ability to share content, Pyke is adamant live music remains as necessary as ever.
“I feel really fortunate that I've been able to do such extensive regional touring over the years because it's a big deal … it's really fun and it's a great way to see a huge amount of the country," Pyke said.
“As much as it is easy to access stuff online, that real engagement that you get with a gig or with an artist that you love from seeing them live, that's the truest kind of barometer for the impact of the songs."
Pyke’s fifth studio album, But For All These Shrinking Hearts, was released in mid-2015.
It debuted second on the ARIA chart and first on the Australian charts, and feature Pyke’s much-loved lyrical honesty set to melodic guitar instrumentals.
In addition to writing and performing music, Pyke is passionate about improving literacy in Indigenous communities around Australia.
Pyke and a fellow Indigenous Literacy Foundation ambassador, Play School’s Justine Clarke, recently recorded an original single which will raise ILF funds.
"It's always been something that I'm interested in and passionate about … the idea of Indigenous Australians and everyone else having equal opportunities," he said.
"Literacy has obviously played a huge part in my career ... so it seemed like a good fit.”
