This metal band, which currently consists of four members, has been able to overcome their obstacles and managed to release their most successful album to date.
Vocalist Luke Vaessen admitted that the road had not been easy, but the band was very proud of what it had accomplished.
“We started working on the album around two years ago, it has been a long and eventful journey to get to where we are now - but it is a nice feeling that people are really liking it,” Vaessen said.
The album was released on June 17 and made it to number one on the iTunes metal charts and number four on the rock charts in Australia.
Vassen said that the band did not really have any expectations for the album, and they were happy with its success so far.
“The feedback has been really, really positive so far, not too many negative reviews - usually people have been able to find bits they have liked if they haven’t actually dug the whole album,” he said.
Within the last two years, Launceston musician Billy Bennett has joined the band as a guitarist, and Vaessen said that he had really helped with the sound and influence of this album.
“His help and input has been essential, we have been able to push the direction a bit differently with this album, and his background in different musical genres has helped achieve that,” Vaessen said.
Although this album has been successful so far, the band has nothing big planned for the immediate future, and plans on taking things day by day.
“We are happy enough doing what we are doing, we will try and keep touring with bigger tour and bigger supports – we just want to get our record and our songs out and about,” Vaessen said.
“We want to thank everyone one for sticking with us, it has been a long time between records and shows, especially in Tas.”
The Familiar // The Decay album tour will kick off on Saturday night at Launceston’s Club 54, and will be supported by Launceston’s Third Degree and Devonport’s Slow Descent.
