Key Fitness on Brisbane Street, Launceston are celebrating their 5th birthday this month.
The gym has seen some impressive changes over the last five years, constantly adapting to keep up with an ever changing market and striving to meet member demand.
Having a background in accountancy, logistics and real estate owner Daniel Young, seen the potential in the premises on Brisbane Street and through the expertise of gym manager Ben Gourlay, Key Fitness was born.
“Ben had been a personal trainer in Launceston and Europe and seen Key Fitness as a new challenge.
“The knowledge base and industry experience that he has, has not only benefitted the business, but the members too,” Daniel said.
Constantly wanting to adapt and offer their members the best possible gym service, Ben and Daniel have expanded the business twice in the past 5 years, in both size and the services that they offer.

“There was suddenly an influx of 24 hour gyms in Launceston and we knew we had to change our model.
“We realised that our members also wanted more from their training than what a 24 hour gym offered.
“So we began to look into classes that we could offer our members, while still retaining our 24 hour aspect.
“Using Ben’s expertise and industry knowledge we expanded downstairs for fitness classes and even took over upstairs too for our yoga studio.”
As a result of the expansion Key Fitness now offers a range of classes to their members, from circuits to TRX and spin.
“The classes we offer are all about functional high intensity training, but there are different elements to the classes each week, your training should replicate everyday life,” said Ben.
But it was the edition of Hot Body Yoga that proved a hit for the gym. “Hot Yoga classes take place in the full equipped yoga studio which is heated, using radiant heat, which is much better for the muscles.
“Working out in this heat loosens muscles and joints to improve flexibility and mobility, working deeper into muscles, ligaments and joints,” Daniel Said.
Since adding the yoga studio and fitness classes, Key Fitness have seen an increase in members.
“It is great to see people trying new things to improve their fitness and wellbeing and taking on new challenges every week,” Daniel said.
To celebrate their 5th birthday they are are offering new members in July 5 weeks free membership and a free 24 hour access key.
Current members can enjoy free membership upgrades throughout July and August.
