On his Facebook page, he has copy/pasted an article from the ABC about activist group GetUp's highly successful campaign to oust him from the Tasmanian seat of Bass.
"THIS IS WHAT DISHONESTY LOOKS LIKE - GETUP SPENT $500,000 AND IMPORTED 90 ACTIVISTS INTO BASS," Nikolic wrote, temporarily ditching his inside voice.
"This ABC article reveals the estraordinary [sic] lengths GetUp, the unions, and Labor went to in running a dishonest, nasty, personal campaign in Bass, built around the core lie of Medicare privatisastion [sic].
"It's sad to think that this sort of dishonest campaigning approach works in our country!"
Nikolic was battered by one of the biggest swings in the country - in excess of 10 per cent - which delivered his seat of Bass to Labor's Ross Hart.
But he was far from the only Coalition casualty in Tasmania: Brett Whiteley lost the seat of Braddon, and Eric Hutchinson lost in Lyons.
Tasmania will now be represented by four Labor members and the long-serving independent Andrew Wilkie in Denison.
