As every year, the skills of young dancers proved to be a highlight, with judges applauding the hard work and dedication from participants.
Theatrical dancing judge Lydia McNamara travelled from New South Wales to adjudicate the performances.
Launceston Competitions secretary Margaret East said it takes a lot of volunteers to bring the competitions together.
“The music judge, [Bronislaw Sozanski] was very impressed with the amount of music that has been taught in Launceston,” Ms East said.
Competitions will ramp up over the weekend as school-aged performers add the final touches to their routines before taking to the stage.
Speech and drama adjudicator Kiesten McCauley impressed volunteers, parents and performers with her positive advice and respected critique.
“Kiesten’s constructive criticism that she gave to the competitors was really appreciated,” Ms East said.
