THREE Tasmanians have been named in Rowing Australia’s squad for the world championships in the Dutch city of Rotterdam in August. Tamar Rowing Club’s Henry Youl will be part of the under-23 men’s coxed four outfit with Sam Hardy, Texas Lawton, Jack Cleary and coxswain Louis Copolov.

Fellow Tamar product and Ohio State scholarship holder Stephanie Williams will head to The Netherlands with the under-23 women’s coxed eight team. Hobart’s Georgia Nesbitt will also compete in the non-Olympic boat class of the lightweight women’s single sculls.
Rowing Australia said athletes selected had returned from a US college rowing program or were invited to trial in Penrith, NSW, last week. The Rotterdam event runs from August 21 to 29.
Meanwhile, Max McQueeney and William Mure were named in the men’s double sculls for the World University Rowing Championships in Poznan, Poland from September 2.
