Former prime minister John Howard has described him as the right man for the job, but Bass MHR Andrew Nikolic could well lose his seat on Saturday.

Psephologist Kevin Bonham says polling indicates Mr Nikolic, who is in a tight race against Labor candidate Ross Hart, will get over the line by 1 per cent.
“On that basis he could lose,” Dr Bonham said.
"But the margin is higher, the incumbent has better ratings, and there have been numerous polls which all say it will hold.”
"Even so, it's got this history of bouncing around like crazy.”
Mr Howard warned Tasmanian voters not to risk a minority government and urged them to support Mr Nikolic.
“He’s got very forthright views on things which people like,” Mr Howard said.
Left-wing lobby group GetUp! has been running a strong campaign against Mr Nikolic, accusing him of supporting cuts to health and privatising Medicare.
Dr Bonham said Labor candidate Brian Mitchell would likely win Lyons, but there had been limited polls.
