Caine Robert Richardson has been charged with one counts of arson, two counts of assaulting police, one count of threatening police and one count of destroying property.
He did not appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday, but was represented by lawyer Evan Hughes.
Mr Hughes said his client was “not capable of attending court” and requested the matter be adjourned until a later date.
Mr Hughes did not enter any pleas and he did not apply for bail.
Magistrate Sharon Cure remanded Mr Richardson in custody.
He will next appear in court on July 4.
