The public are invited to attend. They will hear from a panel of speakers on the challenges and successes of tackling drug use in Tasmania and how different sectors are responding to illicit drug use.
Panellists include representatives from Tasmania Police and the drug services industry.
Moderator on the night, Professor Dominic Geraghty, said there is some fantastic work being done in the Tasmanian community to respond to illicit drug use.
“Some of the interventions… appear to be, at least in my view, stabilising usage around the state,” said Professor Geraghty.
According to experts a multi-pronged approach to tackling drug use in Tasmania is most effective said Professor Geraghty, “We need to have education, we also need to have treatment but most importantly we need to have post treatment support.”
The forum will be held at the Inveresk campus from 6 o’clock tonight.
