The win marks full circle of a dream year, which saw the unit go on to clinch Most Efficient Training Ship in the country in March.
TS Argonaut now has the chance to become the first unit in 35 years to win back-to-back titles should it finish in the top three point scorers nation-wide.
Unit ANC Commanding Officer Lieutenant Michelle Montgomery said news of the win had been met with mixed emotions from those involved.
“They were shocked, crazy delighted, over the moon as well as a bit anxious about having to go through the rigorous assessment all over again,” Lieutenant Montgomery said.
“We have so much community support from mums helping with hair, local businesses donating food on the day and just their presence at our ceremonies gives all the cadets a real lift.”
Break O’Day mayor Mick Tucker praised the group’s preparation and commitment and wished the unit the best of luck in their quest for another national title.
“The whole community is really proud of what the cadets have achieved, I think that is evident by the number of people that show up to their assessments and ceremonies,” Cr Tucker said.
