The Nextgen Business Team Challenge gave students five days to come up with an idea that would benefit Launceston. 

Students had to develop business plans, present financial models and research how their business would work.

The teams then gathered at the University of Tasmania to display their work.

Entries included a dessert cafe, an 80s diner, a pop-culture shop and clothing stores.

Queechy High School’s team won overall best business for their MotiVeg shop – a smoothie bar selling healthy treats. 

“We are opening to motivate people to make more health-conscious choices in their life,” year 10 student and team member Kane Keleher said.

“The challenge has been such an exciting opportunity for us to be able to showcase our business skills to the entire public and I think this could be a viable business.”
