The 21-year-old male, from Victoria, activated his EPIRB on the Overland Track around 3.30pm on Saturday, after sustaining minor leg injuries.
Efforts by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to locate the man were halted by bad weather. Western District search and rescue personnel, along with an Ambulance Tasmania paramedic, walked into the area at 8pm on Saturday from Dove Lake. The man was located on Sunday morning.
“[They] stayed with the male overnight until all parties could be rescued by the helicopter at first light this morning,” the spokesperson said.
