Both locals and tourists made the most of the fresh snowfalls at Ben Lomond on Saturday, including a trio of Brazilian exchange students who got to see snow for the very first time.

“We want to come here because in Brazil we are never going to see snow and we’re going back to Brazil in two weeks,” said 17-year-old Rhaira da Silva. Kamila Almeida, 16, said seeing snow was a big dream. “It’s really different where we live. It’s really hot, up to 30 or more degrees, and this experience is amazing,” she said.
Jose Vinicius, 16, said they were part of a group of 20 students in Launceston to improve their English.
“We came here in February and we are supposed to go back to Brazil in July and we can say we are enjoying it here,” he said.
