Launceston Fire Brigade and staff at the Northern Region Headquarters will don purple beanies for the next week to help fight brain cancer; the leading cause of death in Australian children.
Launceston senior firefighter Robert Nimmo said the Beanies for Brain Cancer campaign provided the perfect opportunity to support a cause close to the heart of the Launceston firefighting community.
“It's a disease that has a pretty low survival rate and it’s very expensive to do research in, so we decided that it was a good cause to get behind and support,” Mr Nimmo said.
“For the next eight days until the second of July, we're going to try and wear them as much as we can.”
