The council provided an update on the progress in Wednesday’s public meeting.
In April, the May Shaw Health Centre had approached the Tasmanian Health Service, offering to take control of 29 residential aged care beds in the James Scott Wing of the North Eastern Memorial Hospital.
Cr Howard said the takeover of the Wing was planned for October 1.
He said the budget had yet to be delivered, and they hoped to make a start on the amalgamation and redevelopment in 2017.
“Once we do that we think we can run the facility with a surplus.”
