Combining with the Bay of Fires Art festival to form a tasty weekend proposition for East Coast residents and visitors, the event boasted a lineup of about 300 cars including a showstopping McLaren 540C and an Aston Martin DB8.
Organising committee member Grant Faulkner said some had speculated the turnout to be between 2000 and 3000, challenging St Marys’ New Year’s Day racing as the town’s biggest day of the year.
“The street was full all day, it was a really great day,” Mr Faulkner said.
“It was the first year that we've closed part of the main street and that was of great benefit because we had a lot more dry areas to display cars and it really had a lovely street carnival atmosphere.
“We have quite a bit of variety just within our town here and we got a fair few supporters from St Helens, Scamander and down the valley, we've got a lot of local interesting cars and they've all been good supporters for us.”
Mr Faulkner said the event provided a welcome winter social event as well as the chance to check out a sizeable selection of vehicles.
“The nicest thing about it is that it gets people out and about.
“People tend to hibernate a bit in the winter as it gets cold but things like this drag people out and there was a lot of talking and stories and reminiscing all day.”
Mr Faulkner thanked Break O'Day Council, Cement Australia, White Sands Resort, Hilly's IGA and Penrite Oil for their contributions to the event.
