There’s no doubt the revived interest in vintage clothing is set to continue, where everything old is new again.
The smash Australian movie, The Dressmaker, has certainly helped fan the flames under the fashions of the 1930s and 40s.
The designs and materials, the sheer femininity of the feel and look of wearing dresses has made a comeback, while making your own clothing has revived interest in seams, tacking, and needle and thread.
The Overdressed Market seems to have found the right niche, catering to a love of fashion, culture, materials and ‘the look’, reviving and fanning the appeal of all things vintage.
Keep your eyes peeled and you too could pick-up a bargain from the fashion-savvy stallholders whose closets can no longer accommodate all their great clothing.
Check out the cut, the material, the style and the designers choice of colour – there’s a mini lesson in each garment!
Organisers say there will also be a great selection of free clothes up for grabs.
These are the dates for the upcoming markets:
Sunday 12 June 2016
Sunday 11 September 2016
Sunday 11 December 2016
All markets take place between 12 noon – 4pm at the Masonic Temple, 3 Sandy Bay Road, Hobart (opposite St David’s Park).
