Heavy rainfall caused flooding across the North on Monday, causing chaos on the roads and evacuations at Newstead, Latrobe and Wynyard.
State Emergency Service issued a major flood warning for the Meander River region on Monday afternoon.
Communities at Meadowbank, Gretna, Glenoa, Bushy Park, Macquarie Plains, Rosegarland, Hayes and Planty are likely to affected.
Evacuation centres were set up at Launceston's Albert Hall, Wynyard Railway Institute Hall, East Devonport Recreation Ground, New Norfolk Carinya Education Park and Deloraine Community Centre.
Tasmania Police said it holds grave concerns for two people who were declared missing after they were swept away by floodwaters.
Ms Revie said while the flood was unprecedented, Tasmania’s arrangements were very secure.
“There is no risk at this time of an Invermay flood, those residents should be alert but not alarmed,” Ms Revie said.
Public health authorities have advised the public to avoid all contact with floodwaters as they may be contaminated by sewage overflows and animal waste.
Police, fire and emergency management minister Rene Hidding said Tasmanians should be absolutely responsible in coming days.
“Don’t try and take nature on in its course...there is simply no reason to enter flood waters.”
Tasmania fire service has placed boots on the ground across the North to ensure SES volunteers were given adequate breaks.
For emergency assistance call the SES on 132 500.
