Organised by Deloraine Arts member Graeme Lindsay, the competition will gather poems and photographs from Tasmanians for a Matchday Football exhibition to be held later in the year.
Mr Lindsay said the competition was a way of exploring what football means to Tasmanians.
“You always hear people saying (football) is a part of Tasmanian culture so in one way it's asking a diverse group of people what their opinions are - in some ways it's a survey.” Mr Lindsay said.
“If you look at a newspaper there's always photos of football but it's the game, not necessarily the people involved or around football, such as.... the person that works in the canteen for all the games, collects money at the gate, or the supporter that sits in the back of a car for two hours.”
Entrants will have until August 12 to submit poems and photography, with winners to share in a prize pool worth $1000.
