The George Town Football Club was packed end to end with tables as the town rallied together to help the talented fifteen-year-old fly to England later this month with the state development squad.
The family was delighted by the support.
“Most people I know but some I'm not so familiar with, it's nice to see them come down and support me - I'm really grateful,” Freeman said.
Dad Steve thanked everyone involved in the event and said he “couldn't be any prouder”.
“From the age of nine years old he's been playing in rep teams and progressed through to where he is now,” Mr Freeman said.
“His attitude has been unbelievable and that's the reason why he's where he is now.”
The Tasmanian development squad will play seven matches in England between June 30 and July 17.
