You can expect a bigger production, more sound and music with the classic Uni Revue gags we know and love, all intertwined through themes from the Star Wars movie franchise, in honour of The Force Awakens, released last year.
Show co-director Andrew Casey says it is the most exciting show yet, and said he was prouder than ever to be a part of this production.
“We have really upped the ante this year, there is a lot more song and dance – We were able to use a greater scope incorporating The Star Wars theme,” Casey said.
In its 69th year, the Uni Revue aims to hit close to home for Tasmanians, full of political and social gags and skits that only the Apple Isle dwellers will fully understand.
“A lot of great movies and music has come out recently to make a parody of, for example Straight Outta Compton we have changed to Straight Outta Kempton – a song that anyone who knows the country towns in Tasmania can relate to,” Casey said.
Although you will recognise some faces in the cast, there are many newcomers this year, with more than half the cast performing in a Uni Revue for the first time ever.
The Uni Revue will be at Launceston’s Princess Theatre from June 6-10.
