Cadby Kong has setup a mobile barber shop, travelling to the homes of Launcestonians and providing haircuts with a smile. After volunteering for a barber, Mr Kong’s friends began asking him to cut their hair after work.
“I was volunteering at the barber shop for nine months, learning his skills and then I started going to people’s houses to do haircuts,” Mr Kong said.
Sometimes, Mr Kong said he would be cutting hair at midnight. This experience made him realise lots of people need haircuts but cannot commit to appointments within business hours.
The Launceston Door to Door Barber Facebook page gained more than 1300 likes since launching on May 25.
Mr Kong said he wanted to provide a service to people who find it difficult to attend appointments due to work or family commitments, as well as those who may not be able to leave their home.
“I know alot of elderly people have trouble commuting, so it'll be way easier and safer to go to their house,” Mr Kong said.
