The Suns and Burnie Baptist met in Launceston with the Suns posting the only goal for the game at the midpoint of the second half, from the stick of Keelan Beattie.
The teams traded blows with the ball as they probed defences looking for an avenue to goal, with respective keepers Jamie Pinner and Callum Poke covering well.
A minor positional change for Baptist had Rick Webb moving to the half line, strengthening the back line in preparation for the Suns onslaught.
The Suns young guns of Kurt Budgeon, James Sexton and Keelan Beattie kept the Baptist defence working hard, with little reward.
South Burnie started slowly in their clash with Tamar Churinga on home soil, only posting one goal in the first half.
Tamar matched the Hawks pace but was unable to convert their limited chances, as the half ran out.
Positional shuffles for the sides at half time gave the Hawks more chances for Jordan Dart and Stuart Bowles to separate the two teams with scoreboard pressure.
Rohan John and stand-in keeper Jack Brophy were stand-out performers for the Greenmen as they struggled to contain the midfield expertise of South Burnie’s Roger Ambrose.
Luke Redman sealed Tamar’s fate late in the half adding their fourth goal to seal the game.
A depleted Smithton took the game to City Marians, opening the scoring early while keeping the visitors scoreless to half time.
A reshuffle at the interval had the Bloods on the attack early, with goals for Liam Grundy and Craig McCarthy turning the contest on its head, and giving the visitors the lead.
The Saints never say die spirit shone through as they pushed the Bloods hard in an effort to level the score, but neither side able to add to the tally.
Queechy took their best game to Devonport to upset the tough Subbies combination 3-2.
The Penguins opening the scoring early with Evan Lawrence and Finn Bailey finding their way around Devonport keeper Derrick Heathorn with well-placed shots to give them a handy margin.
The Subbies continued to attack as the ball see-sawed from end to end with keeper Nick Green holding sway over the Subbies attack.
A reshuffle by the Subbies and a loose ball for Mick Williams put them back in with a chance as the tempo stepped up.
Queechy added another goal from the stick of Evan Lawrence to again draw the margin out as the game drew to a close.
Devonport’s Declan Filler found a way through to add a consolation goal in the last minute of the game.
Results: Queechy d Devonport 3-2, South Burnie d Tamar Churinga 4-0, South Launceston d Burnie Baptist 1-0, City Marians d Smithton 2-1.
