Acting Director of Public Health Doctor Mark Veitch said recent sampling identified toxins from algae in oysters, mussels and scallops at several sites.
Dr Veitch said it was safe to eat shellfish from shops and restaurants in Tasmania because commercially grown bivalve shellfish are closely monitored.
Toxins built up in shellfish can cause severe illness.
