Rangers interim president Mark Jefferson said the club was disappointed that their senior coach had decided to quit mid-season
"I regret to inform you all that Dane Hudson has decided not to continue with the Northern Rangers FC in his current capacity,” Jefferson said in a statement on Wednesday evening.
“He has made the decision for his own reasons and we will have come to terms with this.”
Hudson has left the club on the back of a dramatic 4-0 home loss against lowly Clarence United, leaving Rangers on the bottom of the Tasmanian premier league table with just three points from its nine games this season.
Hudson’s resignation follows Rangers’ championship coach Brian Oman walking away last month.
However, Jefferson has left the door ajar for Hudson to return to the fold in some capacity.
“Dane is a very passionate football advocate and his energy around the club has always been well received,” Jefferson said.
“We wish him all the best and hope that this is not the end of his relationship with the club.”
Hudson joined the club as an assistant coach in 2014 and has been at the helm for the last two seasons, overseeing a fourth-place finish in 2015.
Club coaching staff are expected to step in and take control for the club’s big match against title challengers South Hobart.
“We will announce long term arrangements in the next week,” Jefferson said.
