The Devil Island Project Group will design, manage and construct 3,200 metres of large transportable enclosures that will be used to provide release facilities next to wild devil recovery zones.
Environment Minister Greg Hunt was in Hobart on Wednesday promoting $500,000 in federal funds for the project from the $3.3 million Save the Tasmanian Devil Program.
The project group has raised $300,000.
The equipment will be reusable and transportable, providing for a containment area of up to 10 hectares for newly released Tasmanian devils.
