Despite competing at the circuit for the first time and reduced practice time on the Friday due to gearbox and clutch issues with his V8 Torana, Garwood qualified 13th for the first 12-lap race and finished 11th.
After starting 11th in race two he finished an excellent seventh despite having to drive without a clutch for six laps and he then lined up in third position for the reverse grid trophy race at the end of the day.
With father Greg off the road on the first lap in his Capri, Garwood assumed the lead and looked set to take what would have been his second win in the TCM series only to have veteran Glenn Seton muscle his way past on the last lap and relegate Garwood to second.
The apprentice mechanic now has a substantial lead of 148 points in the Pro-Sports class.
