The new bridge was originally expected to be completed by the end of May.
A government spokesman said a commencement date for demolition of the old bridge was yet to be finalised.
“Contractors are currently developing a proposal for demolition of the old bridge to be submitted to the Department of State Growth for approval,” he said.
“The current expected completion date for demolition is 31st August.”
The bridge replacement is expected to be completed within the original budget of $6.67 million.
