THE Launceston Tornadoes mounted a final quarter blitz to come from behind and hand the Lady Spartans an 83-67 defeat in their SEABL clash in Brisbane on Saturday night.

It was the perfect result for the team and coach Reece Potter in their final double-header road trip of the season giving the Torns and 8-3 win-loss record and with nine of 11 games at home to come in the back half of the season following a taxing travel schedule in the first half.
Star recruit Ally Wilson again showed her value to the side with a standout performance top scoring with 30 points and five rebounds.
Scores were tied up at 23-23 after a tight first quarter with Brisbane grabbing a one-point lead at half-time, 42-41.
The Lady Spartans outscored the Torns by four points in the third quarter to take a 58-53 advantage at the last change.
But the Tornadoes rallied and in a brilliant final quarter dominated the home team, outscoring them 30 points to nine to run out easy winners.
Tayla Roberts shot 17 points and had 17 rebounds in a good performance and Mikaela Ruef, who was the star in Friday night’s win over Canberra, contributed 10 points and 12 rebounds.
Sammy Phillips and captain Lauren Mansfield, who shared the point guard duties, shot eight points each.
Meanwhile, the North-West Thunder men split their SEABL road trip with the Torns defeating Basketball Australia’s Centre of Excellence 102-75 on Friday.
But they were unable to back up going down to Brisbane 99-84 on Saturday.
