Released in mid April, You’ll Pay For This is an eclectic 12-tracker that is reminiscent of hanging out with a toddler who flits from mood to mood.
Most of the tracks employ a synthesizer, which is used for good and evil.
The first single off the album 2am has already been well received – probably for its life advice of “nothing good happens past 2am”.
Songs like Deja Vu and Too Young wouldn’t be amiss on a soundtrack to The OC from the mid-2000s.
And there’s nothing wrong with that. At times, there is even a Tame Impala scent to tracks like Boss.
Bear Hands has done a spot-on job of building an easy listening album – but if you care to scratch beneath the surface there is some depth in tracks like Winner’s Circle and Like Me Like That.
