Dream on Dreamer will be back in Tasmania after several years this Friday night, taking a break from the studio and crossing bass strait to play in Launceston and Hobart this weekend.
The band is keen to venture down south, for us to hear their latest record. Callan Orr, the lead guitarist said he has been happy with the band’s progress and successes so far.
“I like to think every album we've released is a great step apart. A lot of bands seem to find a formula and stick to it. We're always trying to find something new, which feels like a risk, but that's what makes it exciting”, Orr said.
Dream on Dreamer’s third studio album Songs of Solitude is their most recent record and was released in November last year.
So far, it has been their most popular album to date.
The band’s stand-alone single Don’t Lose Your Heart, which came out last June as a teaser to the album, has also proven to be a hit.
“It charted the highest out of any of our releases and it really is a record that we didn't count on being received as well as it has. It was our first independent release ever as a band so we were really learning how to put out a CD for the first time. There was a lot to do but I think we handled ourselves well,” Orr said.
The band takes pride in its ability to adapt and grow in its lifespan, with each album producing new sounds and energy. Orr explained that he felt it was essential to keep with the times and give audiences what they want, not only for the loyal fans but for the wider public.
“We are getting older, our fans are getting older. We want to make our music easier to listen to and we have two exceptional vocalists, we'd be crazy not to capitalise on that I think,” he said.
Since these Melbourne rockers formed in 2009 they have been nominated for an ARIA award and toured the world, supporting some big names in the alternative rock scene like Avenged Sevenfold and Pierce the Veil.
Dream on Dreamer will headline at The Year Long Party #2 and Club 54 this Friday, and at The Republic Bar in Hobart on Saturday.
