So when the community decides it's going to host Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, by Joves you'd better believe it's going to be Australia's Biggest Morning Tea.
The brainchild of prominent George Town resident June Smith, the May 13 event appears set to attract several hundred to the George Town Memorial Hall in an effort to raise funds for the Cancer Council.
A supergroup of 11 community organisations have joined forces to organise the event, which will kick off at 10am and wrap up at 12.30pm.
George Town Council community events officer Rhonda O'Sign said it had been "amazing" to see the community work together for a common goal.
“They've all put their hand up to help in some way by either catering for the event, helping out in the kitchen, donating the coffee, the tea or cakes," Mrs O'Sign said.
“Everyone's put their hand up to assist and make sure that this event is going to be a good one for George Town and more importantly raise funds for the Cancer Council.”
Mrs O'Sign said organisers had already received 20 donations for the raffle.
“Not only have we had the support of all those community organisations in planning the event, but we've had so many local business donate prizes.
“Most of the businesses in George Town have donated in some form, it's just amazing.”
Tamar FM have also jumped on board, announcing on Wednesday they would hand-deliver morning tea to anyone unable to attend the occasion.
“If there's any elderly people for instance that are house-bound or can't get out, (station president) Kevin Ellis has volunteered to take the morning tea to them,” Mrs O'Sign said.
“That just value-adds to the support and shows the amount of community togetherness that's happening in town at the moment, it's really good.”
Entry to the morning tea costs $5, which includes entry into the lucky door prize.
The morning is also set to include entertainment, games, and an address from the Cancer Council’s guest speaker Richard Austin.
