Shannon Mansell, Cindy Pitchford, Jessie Digney and Tony Burgess were recognised at a recent graduation ceremony, which included Parks and Wildlife Service staff and their family and friends.
Mr Burgess said it felt satisfying to finally graduate.
“It’s been a great opportunity to reconnect with my family and the community,” he said.
“Our role as an aboriginal ranger is to have a key focus on aboriginal heritage on parks land. Our role is providing that link between the government for parks and wildlife and the community.”
He said the even though aboriginal heritage was on parks land, the decision needed to come from the community, and he facilitated this by informing the community on events and works or decisions being made.
The rangers have gained permanent positions with Parks and Wildlife Service.
