Jingshan student Wang Yikan has embraced this exchange program and thinks it will help him with his schooling upon returning to China.
Wang talked about what he likes to do after school.
:I like to play soccer or basketball,” said Wang Yikan.
Some lessons he has after school are basketball and English.
“English lessons are online, a bit like Skype” said Wang Yikan.
That’s a lot different to how we learn languages at Scotch Oakburn, as they are in the classroom with a teacher.
Wang Yikan was asked what he wanted to be when he was older.
“I haven’t really thought about it. I get asked that a lot in China” he said.
He did say that he “would love to come back to Tasmania, it is a beautiful place.”
I also got to interview Wang Tianze and he does similar activities to me after school.
“After school I might play soccer with my classmates or go home and help around the house,” he said.
On weekends he goes to English and basketball clubs.
“I also learn English in school and want to be a scientist when I am older,” he said.
He also would love to come back to Tasmania.
“I’d love to return to Tasmania, Australia is a big and very beautiful country.”
It’s fascinating to think what interests the Chinese exchange students.
When Yan Yu Xin arrived at her host partner’s house she was excited and amazed at the variety of animals.
“My favourite animal is the duck,” Yan Yu Xin said.
“I really like Tasmania. It is the first time I have been here, I am being very included and I think every one cares about me at the school.”
It has been a busy week full of activities and the students are now looking forward to visiting the Cataract Gorge and the East Coast before returning home this weekend.
