So it comes as no surprise last week’s debut event has been hailed a resounding success.
Hosted by the newly-formed Tamar Valley Women in Agriculture group, the tour visited York Town Organics, Riviera Tavern and Brocklands Nursery in an afternoon covering natural pest control, small farm business and agri-tourism.
Organising committee member Fiona Stocker said she was thrilled with the turnout.
“We had 42, we were delighted with that,” Ms Stocker said.
“It's the first event we'd organised so they seemed like really good numbers.”
Ms Stocker likened the event to a Nuffield scholarship, which enables farmers to tour other countries with the purpose of gaining a broader perspective on agricultural practice.
“The whole day for us really was like a mini Nuffield because the idea with that scholarship, and Tasmanian Women in Agriculture, is that it's all about networking and getting into each other's backyards, looking at each other's businesses and taking away some lessons and learning what you can from each other.”
