Greens Beach are Division Two ladies champions after a nail-biting finish where they drew their contest with Bridport and other results went their way. Leza Thornton lost at number one to Lyn Mullins, Ang Blyth defeated Raylene Taylor, Sally Woods lost to Diane Rattray, Coral Brown won against Helen Davies and in the crucial game Jane Phillpott halved her contest with Christi Rowbottom. Greens Beach will play in the Cons Pearce final at Campbell Town on May 19 against the East Coast winner.
Prospect Vale are the Division Three champions finishing with three wins along with Launceston, Exeter and Mowbray but managed 14 individual games. Competing last week were Alison Archer, Anne Kennedy, Janice Hatton, Julie Stearnes and Sue Stebbings.
Ladies East Coast pennant has one round remaining and while Scamander River tops the ladder it faces a trip to St Helens with both sides having won four matches and the winner off to the final.
Launceston enjoyed another successful season in men’s Northern pennant winning Divisions One, Two and Three along with the handicap Division Five. George Town secured the flag in Division Six and Riverside took Seven and Eight.
Bicheno is setting the East Coast pace after securing a clean sweep against Malahide for its third win of the roster while St Helens and Scamander River have two.
Cory Crawford, formerly of St Helens, has made another cut as a professional and finished tied for 31st in the Western Australian Open with rounds of 68,69,71 and 67 for a five-under total. Local amateur Curtis Luck won with an amazing 19-under par.
Wynyard is the North-West team to beat.
