The five-year-old, to be ridden by top Victorian jockey Mark Zahra, has drawn a reasonable barrier and is not harshly weighted with 57 kilograms.
However the not-so-good news is that the track is already rated a heavy 8.
Hellova Street has recorded seven of his nine wins on good tracks and is also proven on soft-rated going where he’s had six starts for two wins, two seconds and a third.
However he has never raced on heavy ground.
Trainer Scott Brunton said he was hoping for a track somewhere between good and dead.
At least Brunton and Hellova Street’s owners are on a positive roll, having combined to win the last race at Spreyton on Sunday with another of their horses, Streetwise Savoire.
ADMIRAL is the second highest-rated entry for a $90,000 open handicap over 1000m at Flemington on Saturday.
With a handicapper rating of 99, he is rated 2kg below group 3 winner Lord Of The Sky.
Brendon McCoull will ride the gelding who is on his way to the $500,000 Goodwood Handicap on May 21.
Trainer Barry Campbell expects Admiral to be favourably weighted for the Adelaide the group 1 race which is set weights plus penalties.
Campbell has been advised by the handicappers that, even though Admiral has won eight listed races, none of them incur a penalty.
THE BATTLE for the Tasmanian jockeys’ premiership intensified at Spreyton on Sunday.
Neither David Pires or Raquel Clark, who head the table with 44 wins each, added to their tallies.
However Brendon McCoull rode a winner to move to 43 and Siggy Carr landed a double to go to 42.
It is the first time in memory that four jockeys have still been in contention with only 13 meetings to go.
And, it’s quite possible that the title could be shared for the first time since Garry Glover and Tony Skeoch dead-heated with 51 wins in 1988-89.
A GROUP 2 win by Carlas Pixel in the $50,000 APG 2YO Fillies Consolation at Menangle on Saturday night added to the impressive record of a Tasmanian broodmare.
Carlas Pixel is out of Pixel Perfect (Art Major – Amarillen) who was bred by Pauline Barker and the late Cliff Robins.
Pixel Perfect, a half sister to prolific winner Villagem, was the top-priced lot at the 2007 Tasmanian yearling sale but never raced and ended up in Western Australia.
She went to stud as a three-year-old and Carlas Pixel is her fourth foal.
Her first three have won 24 races between them.
