The 18-year-old man involved in a four-vehicle collision at Newnham on Friday afternoon was transferred to the Royal Hobart Hospital on Friday night.
He was in a critical condition at the RHH on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of the East Tamar Highway and the Newnham Link about 4pm on Friday.
Tasmania Police said a ute travelling south on the East Tamar Highway collided with a Subaru, driven by the 18-year-old male, who was turning right from the Newnham Link.
Two other vehicles were then struck.
The 62-year-old male driver of the ute was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Road conditions were poor at the time of the crash, after it rained heavily in Launceston throughout Friday.
Tasmania Police said the crash was a “reminder for drivers to be extra vigilant on the roads during poor weather conditions”.
A man died after a two-vehicle crash on the Channel Highway at Margate on Friday night.
Tasmania Police said the 29-year-old New Town man was taken to hospital before he was pronounced dead.
A 55-year-old male was injured in the accident and is now in a stable condition.
There were six fatalities on Tasmanian roads in the past fortnight.
