Brigade first officer Matt Buck encouraged any Prospect, Prospect Vale and Summerhill residents over the age of 18 to consider taking up a role at the station.
"You'll be given basic training to make you safe and effective on the fireground and to make sure you can operate and function as part of a crew," Mr Buck said.
“And then if you choose to develop your firefighting skills there are other more advanced courses you can do.”
Mr Buck said becoming a volunteer firefighter was a great way to serve the community, meet new people and hone leadership and teamwork skills.
“The good thing about a volunteer brigade like we are is that it is a mix of people from different trades and backgrounds and things so that adds to a pretty good social atmosphere as well.”
