A $323,800 project carried out by Shaw Contracting has seen the rural colonial estate fitted out with a new roof for the first time since 1880, protecting the building from sustaining further water damage over the winter.
National Trust chair Dr Marion Myhill said the restoration project had been 21 years in the making.
“It’s fantastic to see a new roof put on Clarendon because it’s a wonderful property and we’ve been waiting for a new roof for some time,” Dr Myhill said.
“There’s a lot of other things we can do once we have a roof in place and it’s an important part of the conservation of the building.”
