The band has come along way since it formed in 2009. With three albums behind them, lead singer and bassist Tyler Richardson said this was their best one yet.
“We have finally cracked the formula of what we do – we started off experimenting a bit, tried to refine what we started in the second record and now we have finally got it,” Richardson said.
First single Anything Near Conviction being has been received with “the best feedback on anything ever”, and the guys are excited for the world to hear what else they’ve got.
Richardson said recording the album was a very full-on process, and with everyone was busy with employment and study, it was hard to get the balance right.
The Luca Brasi guys teamed up with a variety people to help produce the album, including Jimmy Balderston from The Grenadiers.
“Jimmy had so much patience with us, we had work and study so it was a hard two weeks, 3am in the morning for two weeks straight, he’s a gun! It is good to work with people who know what it’s like,” Richardson said.
The proof will no doubt be in the product, as Richardson explained this album was a lot more polished than anything they have done before.
In recent years the band decided to relocate to the same city, so they now spend a lot more time together.
“This album is the most collaborative by far, we are all in Hobart now, which makes it easier instead of the process of emails, which we used to start with, it is good to all be together and jam now,” Richardson said.
This week will prove to be one of the biggest tests the bands will have – If This Is All We’re Going To Be is the Triple J feature album of the week.
So far, the national broadcaster has done a lot for Luca Brasi.
“They basically have the power to either make or break it,” Richardson said.
Luca Brasi will be touring their new album from June until the end of the year, although not yet confirmed, Tasmanian shows no doubt will be on the cards.
