Former president of the Rotary Club of Wynyard Ken Spalding, said Dr Brendan Nelson’s presentation on Saturday resonated with him the most.
Dr Nelson spoke of the contributions Australians have made, and in particular Tasmanians, through the First and Second World Wars.
“He had had a pretty delicate subject to talk about and he brought it home particularly well.”
Former district governor of Rotary International District 9830 Ian Shuey said Peter FizSimons had given a rousing presentation.
“The message he got across was it’s very important to recognise the achievements of our young soldiers,” he said.
He said being involved in rotary had given him some of the best experiences in his life.
President of the Rotaract Club of Central Coast Samara Priest said the conference had given the club an opportunity for young people to work with experienced rotarians.
“We’ve been really lucky that we’ve been able to contribute.”
She said Mr FitzSimons had been the highlight, as well as building skills in corporate culture.
The final day also featured a call to remembrance of rotary members had passed away, a presentation by youth group Rotaract, and a preview of the next state conference in Smithton.
